We are on the verge of a utopian existence. With technology on the horizon that will cure most diseases, give us indefinite life spans, the ability to make anything we need on a day to day basis and the capability to acquire all basic necessities from home grown food to self-made homes the life of tomorrow will be one of leisure and the greatest challenges will be moral and motivational.
Diseases will be cured with genetic engineering techniques that will adapt our immune systems to every major illness with a single injection, enable our bodies to rid ourselves of cancer permanently, and rejuvenate our bodies and minds to the state of a young adult. This is not something that might happen in decades, but is something that *is* starting to happen right now. Testing on cures for cancer and rejuvenation are happening as I write this blog today. How soon we will see them available is the only question but it is in a time frame of years, not decades any more.
Three-D printing is blazing forward and almost any item from a gun, to a car to an entire house will be capable of being made with 3D printing. Nanotech manufacturing is not far off from that and we would then be able to remake almost anything we currently own into something new from clothing to electronics to ceramics and auto parts. Computerization and LENR will make us capable of making vehicles that can travel to nearby planets, much less fly, and we will vacation on the moon if we want or live in tropical underwater cities.
The challenge will be avoiding boredom and getting lost in the moral relativism that the future presents ahead. What will be our values when we have everything we need and can have anything we want? Will we plot, plan and prep ourselves more for virtual world empires and holdings than real life? Will we find a meaning to a life that offers no threat to survival or the threat of poverty? Will half the ideologies even exist when everyone has anything and everything they want?
I think tomorrow holds more promise than uncertainty, more hope than pessimism and I am dedicating this blog to spreading encouragement about our future and providing the rational and factual basis for such optimism.
